to seek a new home (3.3 MB) . The latest offering from The Bus Stop (Big Lip & Big Ranz). This nugget is an homage to the records put out by the Memphix label. Dark, sultry loops that are mysterious but still head nodding.
we could do this (4.0 MB) . I scored an synth a few months back and have been messing around with it. This track feels good, and it's probably me best vocal work to date (thank you vocal effects!). Electro love.
chocodile (1.0 MB) . I really need to start playing guitar more. Sometimes when I'm trying to fall asleep I'll grab it and play some, and then I'll get a small burst of inspiration. Always ever so slight... That's what this is. Not a song, or a concept. Just an excercise. It reminds me of math.

that's right (2.0 MB) . This is a new take on the Sylvia Striplin song "Can't Turn Me Away", most notably sampled for "Get Money" by Biggie/Junior Mafia. That bass line is SO big though I thought it deserved a new treatment with some smoother vocals/scratches on top (like sprinkles).
wrap around (1.5 MB) . Nothing more than an idea here. I always wind up using hip-hop or 80's drum loops on guitar tracks, simply because of convenience. Sometimes it has interetsing results. Really rough sketch here.
Stupid Loops - When I was 12, listening to the radio, I would hear sections of songs and loop them in my head. Here are some of the things I heard. Just some short loops here, nothing more.
that's boosh (3 MB) . A full-on honest to goodness kick-ass take no prisoners RAP song by the Bus Stop (Ranztron and Lippy). Rap - as in we are rapping. Listen to it and watch your ladies.
a like apple (2.8 MB) . Instrumental song here. Could stand a lead of some sort, but I also like it on its own. What do you think?
seven nation soul (3.1 MB) . One part funk breakbeats - one part acapella soul version of White Stripes Seven Nation Army. Enjoy.
august to september (2.5 MB) . An adaptaion of a The The song. Maybe even a little Electronica feel on this one. It's not timed perfectly yet - this is a mock-up.
mustang marauders theme song (1 MB) . Theme music for my bocce ball team the Mustang Marauders. About 45 seconds of pumped-up power. Let's hope it brings us the win.
closer (4 MB) . The first offering from The Bus Stop (also known as DJ Lippy & DJ Ranztron). Mild remix using an old classic and a new tune. All good vibes on this one.
the space between (1.5 MB) . And it begins. This is an idea for an opening track to a concept album I've been thinking about. With this song, I wanted to create the sensation of what it feels like to be alone and closed off, but still wanting to open up to let someone else into your life. How there is beauty in that solitude, but also a sadness. It's not really trying to convey an inspirational feeling - more of an attempt to capture the feeling in it's natural state.
I like the string sections on here - it creates a movie score feel which goes along with the fact that the album will in essence be telling a story. This track will set the timbre for the album, but also allow for later contrast against it as the other songs will be more upbeat to a degree.
teardrop cover (1 MB) . A rough sketch of an acoustic cover of ths Massive Attack song. Hopefully it'll be part of an all-cover set in a project coming soon.
make me wanna holler (3.5 MB) . This is a new longer version of "Holler" which was the best product of my Song-a-Day Project. It's now back with a new bridge, and an elongated ending. This song makes me feel real good.
Freeballin' (2 MB) . Wow. What to say - this song was just fun to make. It came after a few hours of getting nowhere (which is frustrating on a night of forced creativity). The jazz loop was lifted from an old "music minus one" album, where they would leave the lead instrument out so you could practice lead at home. My mediocre guitar playing gels nicely with the subtle but appropriate background vocal. Have a listen, sit back and freeball baby.
Green Grass (rough cut) (2.2 MB) . The first product of my experiment in "mandatory" creative time. This is a rough cut - meaning it's not even close to finished. Needs a vocal, and only got recorded through the bridge, so no end is included. Looking to update this in the near future.
Pretty Face (3.8MB) . It's a biggie so only download if you have a fatty connection. I don't know what inspired this song - I guess the feeling of being lost in a forest. And yes - it is fun scratching wolf calls.
Games People Play (2.2 MB) - A late night creation - mildly politically charged.
