Yesterday was nice and warm out for February in NYC. (read: 57 degrees!) People were taking advantage of the gates, and so was I.  Posted by Hello

The Gates opened today in Central Park. I spent about 2 hours walking around and taking it all in. Pretty incredible. Check Christo's official site for all the details.  Posted by Hello

The gates were adjustable which allowed them to lengthen for a wider walkway. A marvel of art and engineering.  Posted by Hello

Eight hundred workers assisted with the construction of The Gates and releasing the material this morning. Nice muffs.  Posted by Hello

Best part of today? The people. Everyone was so friendly, walking around talking to each other, taking pictures, bumping into old friends. Lots of people didn't like the gates for a variety of reasons, but the dialogue was fantastic. And EVERYWHERE you looked were more gates.  Posted by Hello

The material is a little translucent letting the sun shine through it. The color? Saffron. Say it with me now - saffron.  Posted by Hello
